When you are living with a life-limiting illness – the good days really matter.
Palliative care is active care that aims to relieve suffering and promote comfort when a cure is no longer possible. This specialised care provides physical, psychological, social, emotional and spiritual support for patients, families and their friends.
The Hospital Research Foundation (THRF) Group – Palliative Care supports essential palliative services for both patients and their families both at hospice and within our community, through the following:
- Hospice support services and equipment
- Art and music therapy
- Complementary therapies
- Pet therapy
- Volunteer networks and support
- Bereavement services
We also fund transformational palliative care research programs for both general and paediatric palliative care, along with education programs for schools to enhance and open up discussions around death and dying, grief and loss.
